The Ogden Piano Competition and Festival invites students to prepare for our 2024 competition. Competition categories will include Piano Solo, Piano Ensemble, Piano in Chamber Ensemble, Piano Concerto, and Concerto Novice categories.
Not ready to compete? Or need feedback before you do? Take a look at our Performance Evaluations opportunities. Students of any age are encouraged to submit recordings for evaluation. Participants will receive written comments from the judge and a Certificate of Participation.

Piano Solo Category
AGE DIVISIONS & TIME LIMITS
Young Elementary Division (ages 8 and under): 5 minutes

Piano in Chamber Ensemble Category
GROUPS
Ensembles must consist of 3-5 people and must include piano.

All Chamber ensembles will be allowed 3 minutes for set up and 12 minutes for performance.
Please place the groups in the appropriate division according to the average age of the ensemble participants (average age of the group rounded up)

Junior: $160
Senior: $240
All participants will be given a certificate of participation. 1st place will receive a cash prize, 2nd and 3rd place will receive a certificate of recognition for their award. All prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.

All competitors will perform unaccompanied in the video submission and the LIVE Final Round. Cuts of orchestra sections are allowed in the video submission . Solo passages must be prepared in their entirety.

A $30 Registration Fee is due upon submission of your application. At registration competitors will include YouTube links to the video in the form. Read video submission instructions carefully.
All participants will receive a certificate of participation and adjudication comments. Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
No changes in repertoire are allowed between preliminary and final rounds. Memory is required for both rounds.
PRELIMINARY ROUND: Preliminaries will be judged by one judge from video recordings. Competitors will submit one separate video recording per piece. Video recordings must be unedited with the camera view showing full body and hands at the keyboard. Competitors must state “This recording is made for the Ogden Piano Festival.” Any additional speaking in video recordings may result in disqualification.
Videos must not have text overlay or any other identifying information about the student, their teacher, or previous competitions they have participated in either in the video or description.
Competitors will be judged on technical mastery, artistry, stage presence, and musicianship. By submitting a video link, competitors consent to have their videos viewed by the competition judges as well as the OPF board.
VIDEO SUBMISSION

You will be asked to provide the video link in your registration form.
The first round of this competition is held online through the use of YouTube. Information will be used in accordance with YouTube policy and within the guidelines for this competition.
Each competitor unequivocally agrees to the use of their personal information for such purposes.
FINAL ROUND
Original music must be provided to judges for the final round. The each measure must be numbered on the left side of the measure.
The LIVE Competition Final will take place November 14-16 with the exact date and information to be announced. Finals will be held at Pleasant Valley Library at 5568 S Adams Ave, Washington Terrace, UT 84405
ELIGIBILITY
All ages are as of June 1, 2024. Participants should check the age requirement for the category in which they are participating.
A parent or legal guardian of a candidate who is under the age of 18 must ensure that the competitor will comply with these rules and warrant that the parent or legal guardian and competitor are capable of agreeing to these rules and giving the necessary consent. In addition, the parent or legal guardian must be present during the LIVE round if the competitor advances.
WINNERS
Winners will receive a monetary prize.
The LIVE Competition Final will take place at the Pleasant Valley Library 5568 S Adams Ave, Washington Terrace, UT 84405 in November 2024.
